What up, fam!!! I wanna thank everybody who been hittin my twitter and myspace up, sending love and prayers for my mom in her condition...For those who aint know, my mom was diagnosed with an aggressive (cancerous) brain tumor in the early part of October, and needed surgery to have it treated. The surgery was a success and the tumor has been removed, they've done some testing on it to determine the cause...The whole thing is still a lil sensitive, so thats the most I can really put out there, but she is home now and recovering quite nicely for the time being, so thanks to every1 who stayed positive and prayed with me on it. Real talk, no joke, life is very precious, and is NEVER guaranteed, so every second you got here is a blessing and nobody should ever foresake that...We all here and everything happens cuz of the work of a higher power...you choose which 1 you wanna believe in cuz I dont believe in forcing religious beliefs down nobody's throat.
On another note, off the record, I wanna address something that kinda hits a lil close to home. For those of y'all out there who follow Sunset Terrace or just Jay Biggz as a solo artist, you see myself, Tilden Dexter, LK and Aapex... The 1 thing that I think differentiates me from the rest is they are IMO the "Silver Surfer/Fantastic 4" type of artists, meaning the stage name is a clever description of what they "powers" are, etc., but otherwise, they have no alter ego, what you get on the record is what you get in real life in dealing with them (IMO)..But me, Im the "Spiderman/Ironman" artist...Jamahl Harper is the Peter Parker you gonna prolley see in the streets, but I "put the costume on" and become Jay Biggz, ya dig. Thats not to discredit the lyrics or the content of what I say...its ALL a reflection of the visions of the person behind "the mask", however just because I aim for more "action" in my material doesnt mean that I or any other artist in my position should be charged with being responsible for the impact or the influence that I/we have. My point is this: At the end of the day, YOU the listener are responsible for what YOU get out of the material that WE, the artists, make, and depending on who you're a fan of, at no point in time should you feel like an artist is responsible for the validity of what is said or the image that is portrayed. Lets use myself as an example....I hear a lot of flack for what goes on on my twitter, I hear a lil hate for my contributions to the Sunset Terrace...I appreciate the feedback, but in all honesty, if the material/twitter was squeaky clean, would you buy it or follow me??? A lot of your fav artists are in the position where they have to say/do the things they do because they need a response from YOU, the listener, so at no point should EVERYTHING an artist does be scrutinized so heavily as to be picking apart if they real/fake or if they misogynistic/being a pimp, etc. because at the end of the day, Jay Biggz stays in the studio when the light gets cut off, and Jamahl Harper goes home to wifey... I say that to say this, keep it in the back of your mind that a lot of things you hear on records is not always true, but that doesnt mean it shouldnt be said. A movie such as Precious is not a movie that shouldn't be made just because the character "Precious" was not in actuality a real, living person. So the Jay Biggz you get is just as important as the LK, Tilden and Aapex you get...they movie is more of a biography or a documentary, where mines is more of a based on a true story, action film. That wasnt meant to be a shot at anyone in particular, moreso to be aimed at the people who look at artists as "role models" and place blame on the images they/we portray to the public.
